The full handicap allowance will be used.
Every hole on the course is rated for its difficulty. Normally there are 18 holes, therefore ratings are 1 through to 18, with 18 being rated as being the easiest hole, and 1 being deemed as the most difficult. These ratings are known as the Stroke Index, or the S.I. Also once a player knows that he /she can not score, then they should pick up, and walk along with play, thus making for a quicker round.
Your handicap determines, how many shots you get per hole. A player with a handicap of 28, will received 2 extra shots on the holes with an S. I. 1 to 10, and 1 extra shot on the remaining 11 to 18.
You will score if you bogey a hole (one over the par) or better as follows:
1 point for Bogey
2 points for Par
3 points for Birdie
4 points for Eagle
5 points for Albatross (sometimes called a Double Eagle)
Players's H/C | Hole S. I. | Par | Extra Shots | Gross score | Net Score | Stableford Points |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
28 | 10 | 4 | 2 | 5 | 3 | 3 |
12 | 5 | 5 | 1 | 6 | 5 | 2 |
19 | 1 | 4 | 2 | 6 | 4 | 2 |
28 | 18 | 3 | 1 | 6 | 5 | 0 |
22 | 5 | 5 | 1 | 5 | 4 | 2 |
16 | 5 | 5 | 1 | 3 | 2 | 4 |
4 | 5 | 5 | 0 | 7 | 7 | 0 |
The first example is where a player with a handicap of 28, is playing a stroke index 10 par 4. A scratch player would be expected to complete this hole in 4 strokes, however, Stableford allows for the 28 handicapped player's ability, and gives him an extra two shots to complete the hole. The table shows that the player completed the hole in 5 strokes, and with his extra two shots gives the player a net score of three (a birdie). Which results in 3 Stableford points.
The above table shows the extra shot(s) given against the Stoke Index of the hole, for players handicapped from 28 - scratch.

Each player tees off from his respective tee box. From the tee shots, one shot is chosen and marked (distance is not always important). The other players pick up their golf balls and go to that spot.
All members of the team then play their second shot from the position of the best drive. Each player drops a ball in turn within ? a club length of the chosen tee shot (but no nearer the hole).
All members of the team then play their third shot from the position of the best hit second shot and so on and so on until the ball ends up in the hole!
Once you?ve reached the green, the player nearest the hole will mark the spot where the ball stopped, the players whose shots were not used will putt from that spot. If the 1st player sinks the putt - the hole is complete. Ensure that each missed putt (that is closer to the hole) is marked so that the best putt can be used for a second, third, or if required fourth attempt.
On your scorecard please mark the players initial against the tee shot. Mark the number of shots taken for the hole in the scorecard. The winning score will be calculated at the end of the competition.
Please note: You must use FOUR drives from each golfer
There will be an eclectic competition within the main competition which will total the number of stableford points accrued by each player for all the par 3 and par 5 holes on the course.
e.g. holes 1, 4, 9, 12, 14 and 17 for Brampton
The player with the highest points total for these 6 holes will be deemed to have won this prize (in each class).
